Seating plan for a confirmation

A confirmation usually brings together fewer people than a wedding, but with the same concern: that everyone is seated well. Here is a simple method for the tables.

Step by step

  1. Close the guest list

Write down who is coming, with each person’s group: family, sponsor, friends, youth group.

  2. Reserve the confirmand’s table

The confirmand, the parents and the sponsor sit at a table apart. It’s the reference table of the room.

  3. Bring the young people together

The confirmand’s friends usually prefer to sit together, at a reasonable distance from the adults.

  4. Distribute the adults

Seat the family by branches, with the grandparents in easy-to-reach seats.

Small tables

With 30 or 40 guests, rectangular tables of 8 make good use of the space. If the restaurant only has round ones, use those of 8 so the conversation flows.

Who accompanies the confirmand

The confirmation sponsor usually sits at the confirmand’s table. If the baptism godparents are also there, reserve them a seat at the same table or a neighbouring one, so nobody feels left out.

Frequently asked questions

Does a confirmation need a children’s table?

Only if younger siblings or cousins are coming. Otherwise, put the young people at one table and everyone else by family.

Can I import the list from a message?

Yes. Seatalia accepts lists pasted from WhatsApp or Excel and recognises couples and families.

Set up the confirmation tables

The wizard suggests the confirmand’s table and the children’s table.
