First communion seating plan template

A communion brings together family, catechism classmates and the communicant’s friends, often at a restaurant with a children’s menu. This template gives you the list and the blank plan to tidy everything up before speaking to the venue.

Step by step

  1. Download the list

The CSV has the columns Seatalia recognises. Delete the example rows and write one guest per row.

  2. Give each circle a group

For example “Mother’s family”, “Father’s family”, “Catechism classmates” and “Friends”. It’s used to seat people by closeness.

  3. Tell adults and children apart

Write “child” for anyone who eats the children’s menu. You’ll need to know how many there are to size the children’s table.

  4. Set up the communicant’s table

One table for the communicant, the parents and the godparents, near the entrance or the cake. The others are for family and friends.

  5. Import into Seatalia

Choose “First communion”: the room comes with the communicant’s table and the children’s table, with rectangular tables of 8 seats.

Catechism classmates

If lots of children are coming from the same group, a table of their own is usually less work for everyone. If they come with their parents, seating them together avoids children sitting alone at a table with no adults.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a plan for a small number of guests?

With 30 or 40 people, a paper plan does the job. A digital plan helps when the list changes or when the restaurant asks for counts per table.

Is the template free?

Yes, the template and planning in Seatalia are free. You only pay if you want PDFs without a watermark, place cards or the QR.

Move the list onto the tables

Import the CSV and Seatalia suggests the communicant’s table and the children’s table.
